What to include when planning a pre-shipment inspection.
An inspection checklist should connect to the approved sample and written specifications. Depending on the product, it may cover dimensions, materials, appearance, function, labeling, packaging, and carton information. Share the checklist before production so expectations are visible.
Decide which production stage to inspect and how goods will be sampled. Clarify what findings require corrective action and how they will be documented. Sampling inspections do not check every unit; specialist safety testing or certification may require a separate laboratory.
Agree who reviews the report, how the supplier responds, and whether reinspection is needed. Confirm that identified issues have been addressed before authorizing shipment. Keep the report, sample approvals, and related communication together for your project records.
